in white houses
9 05 2008one of my favorite artists of all time is in town and i got to catch her in her first show at trinoma.
i loved her before and i love her even more now.
the vanessa carlton show last night was quite an experience. she really is an amazing musician/lyricist/pianist/performer.she sang her classics like a thousand miles, pretty baby, white houses, ordinary day and her new songs like heroes and thieves, the one, my best, nolita fairytale, and hands on me.all the songs that she performed were beautiful, even those i don’t know of.the way she played that piano was just magical.
i couldn’t believe i was actually listening to her singing my favorite song white houses. ”my first time, hard to explain, rush of blood and a little bit of pain, on a cloudy day, it’s more common than you think, he’s my first…mistake.” it was just perfect. i also loved how she explained the meaning of ‘the one’…something like 2 ‘the ones’ not meeting each other. thus the line, “you’ll never know i was the one…”
i can’t stop gushing about her. she looked beautiful in that long summery dress.i’ve been looking at the videos i took over and over again.i’m completely mesmerized.
i just realized that her songs reflect everything i’m feeling at the moment. let’s just say white houses mean so much more to me now than it did before. right on the spot.
